San Juan Cruise Day 1 - Port Townsend

We leftt for Port Townsend about 11:00am with Mike and Virginia Kelly in their boat, La Paloma (The Dove). We had some rough water going over that made a lot of work for Bob. He was constantly at the wheel trying to keep us on course since the auto pilot couldn't keep up. A few things tipped over so I had to secure more items than I originally had. We have been in rougher waters before but there was still plenty of motion. Barkley was quite content, though. He is a great boat dog!

We arrived in Port Townsend at 3:00pm and took some time to get settled and relax. This is officially a casual cruise with EYC so there were lots of other boats from our club. We joined our Ice Cream Cruisers (ICC) group of the Martins, Smiths and Canons and then invited the Kellys to come along with us for dinner at our favorite restaurant in town - Lanza's. They have fantastic food and service so we try to go there every time we are in town. I ordered rib eye steak that took up half the plate. It absolutely melted in my mouth. It was the most tender steak I have ever eaten. After dinner we gathered on Eight Bells where the Canons had a freezer full of Ben & Jerry's for us to enjoy.
