Broughtons Summer Cruise Day 11 - Port Harvey

We left Blind Channel at 8:00am to go to Port Harvey. We had to cross Johnstone Strait and wind is always a concern. The weather reports sounded like it would be calm this morning but picking up later in the day so we wanted to get across as soon as we could. We timed it perfectly and we had a very smooth ride across. It really couldn't have been better. I got a lot of pictures of the scenery along the way. It is so  remote here that we rarely saw another boat and no homes.

Along the way Al & Sue saw a bear on the shore. They pulled closer to shore and Sue took a picture. It is a little hard to see but at least we got it. My goal this trip is to get a really good picture of a bear on shore with me in a kayak in the foreground!

We saw several fish farms as we cruised up the channels toward Port Harvey.

When we arrived in Port Harvey we found a very small marina (which is typical in the Broughtons) with a delightful family operating it. George and Gail Cambridge and their daughter, Christine were awesome. They were there to greet us and were very attentive to our needs. Their "dock dog" Sabi was there to greet us, also, and hung around during our dinner on the dock.
