We had a very leisurely day today with nothing on the schedule. Several people talked about taking their dinghy over to Cowichan for lunch and to see this working marina. Keith and Ann Porter invited several of us to go with them on their large boat so we enjoyed the company of 10-12 people as we cruised one hour to Cowichan. When we arrived we divided into two groups and found some local pubs for a great lunch.
After lunch Bob and I walked through the town and visited the quaint little shops. There were several artisans displaying their work, an organic bakery that smelled wonderful, and a very popular cheese store.
One of the attractions was the Cowichan Bay Marinitime Center. There was a docent giving some children a tour and we found this cute little "Bumblebee" boat powered by a bilge pump. It was designed for 2-3 year olds. What a perfect grandkids toy!
This next photo is of a house that caught our attention as we walked through town. It was huge but appeared to be a single family home. They had a view of the town as well as Cowichan Bay.
This evening the Bridgemans Bistro set up dinner for us dockside complete with white linen. It was a wonderful meal with a choice of chicken, steak or salmon. It was a lovely evening and we had a lot of fun visiting and sharing boating stories.
After we retired to our boats Sue stopped by to see if I wanted to join some ladies to play Hand and Foot. I had never played before and we had so much fun! Our group ended up being our regular cruising buddies Sue, Moon, Cheryl and me plus we had Denise and Sidney join us. They are the ones that initiated the game and taught the rest of us to play. We made it through two rounds and plan to play the third one on Sunday in Brentwood.
