This morning Bob and I took the kayaks out after
breakfast to see if we could see any bears in the little bay behind the marina.
We were told by some other boaters that a mama bear and her cub had been
spotted on the shore and that you could even see their den. I’m not sure that
part is true but there have been some sightings there. We had a nice time
paddling around but didn’t see any bears.
About noon the seaplane arrived carrying Charlie and
Diane Long as well as my medicine! All the pieces came together and it turned
out okay. I was so happy to see them and made sure to thank them profusely. It
was so nice of them to so graciously deliver the package for me. I couldn’t
figure out why the box was so heavy and wondered if the doctor and given me
some other prescriptions for things “in case”. However, when I opened up the
box I found a sweet note and some candy from Alley! What a wonderful surprise
it was. Alley, thank you for all your
help and for the treats! We were wishing I had packed more snacks for our trip
but I was trying to be “good”. We were
definitely ready for a few sweets!
This evening we made reservations at the restaurant
for their Asian buffet. Wow, were we in for a treat. We had a wonderful dinner
with all-you-can-eat prawns and then when I thought it was time to leave out
came Chris, the manager, in a blue jacket and wig. He got everyone up on their
feet to do a flash mob dance around the restaurant. We had a lot of fun just
being silly. After we sat down, he had everyone introduce themselves and say
where they were from and the name of their boat. Then the staff introduced
themselves and told where they are from. There are on five staff members who
manage everything. The guy who docks your boat becomes one of your servers at
dinner. The lady who works the general store is also one of the waitresses. The
store closes during the dinner hour but if you need to buy something you ring a
bell and she will leave the restaurant and come to the store to take care of
you. It is awesome!
Tonight was a quiet evening. We went back to our boats and prepared to leave in the morning and head for Kwatsi Bay where we will anchor.
