Broughtons Summer Cruise Day 5 - Brentwood Bay

Today was a very relaxing day at Brentwood. We slept in until 8:00am which is late for us. However, the longer we are out on the boat the more commonplace that becomes! We did some visiting this morning and Bob did some cleaning and buffing on the port side of the boat. We are normally tied up on the starboard side so it is hard to access the other side. Here in Brentwood our port side was facing the dock so he took advantage of it and did a little work. He is also working to replace the rubber trim around the windows. The original rubber has broken down and feels sticky to the touch. He got a few more windows finished today.

Then we decided to go out in the dinghy for awhile and look at the little coves along the shoreline. Al and Sue took their boat out, too, and Sue and I did the driving.

On the backside of Butchart Gardens we came across a nature preserve that looked very pretty. Suye kayaked along that area earlier this morning. We also noticed birdhouses on the top of a bunch of pilings. We aren't sure what the signs under them meant but they were intriguing.

After we got back to the boat we put the dinghy back up on the flybridge in preparation for an early morning departure. We plan to leave at 6:30am to head to Silva Bay.

At 5:00pm one of the club members invited people to the dock in front of his boat for crab and drinks.  Everyone brought their own favorite drink and several people provided appetizer/snacks to go along with the crab. Karen Metcalfe brought two pieces of ling cod she caught yesterday while they were out. She pulled in a 35 pounder so they will have a lot of cod for awhile.  It was a good time of visiting and catching up on what everyone did today.

We left the appetizer dock to go to dinner at 6:00 at the Brentwood Pub with Al and sue, Jack and Moon and Larry and Cheryl. We had a great time visiting and talking about our departure tomorrow which begins our own separate vacation up to the Broughtons. As much fun as it is to be with the group of 42 people, we are looking forward to venturing out on our own with no specific schedule and room to adjust for weather and our own interests. We have reservations at the marinas we are headed to but depending on weather conditions they are always subject to change.

I got a couple nice pictures of the marina on our way back to the boats. In the first one, Sunshine is front and center.
